Patient Care Services
Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our areas of patient care services include:
Intensive Care Unit
Our six (6) bed ICU allows us to provide a higher level of care when required, to meet your needs and to prevent unnecessary transfers back to community hospitals. Our nurses and staff are experienced and have received specialized training in our ICU cardiac, respiratory and blood pressure monitoring systems as well as the specialized IV medications which may be required in the ICU setting.
Wound Care
Our interdisciplinary Wound Care Team coordinates all treatments for wounds or skin injuries. Each day, a Wound Care nurse will be involved in your wound care. Weekly, the interdisciplinary team conducts formal rounds with the Wound Care surgeon and his team.
Infectious Disease
Your attending physician will coordinate your care. If one of your needs is the treatment of an infectious disease, one of our Infectious Disease specialist physicians may be called upon to actively participate in your care. He/she will be assisted by our Infection Control nurse.
Dialysis
Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of dialysis with comfort and dignity, and continue to live a full, active life.
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from a physician’s office, extended care facility or skilled nursing center. Please call Admissions at x 4418 to learn more.
Pulmonary Rehab
The aim of our pulmonary rehab team is to determine your capacity for respiratory recovery and then help you reach your fullest level of function. Our rehab regimen includes testing, education, breathing retraining and nutritional counseling.
Physicians
Your clinical treatment is the chief responsibility of your attending physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service. He/she will also request the services of other consulting physician specialists, which may include Pulmonology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Surgery, Neurology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, etc.
Your physician will utilize our automated medical record, ProTouch, to insure communication with our team is thorough and precise. All medications are ordered and documented in ProTouch’s automated Physician Order Entry that helps to insure the accuracy of medications and the prevention of errors.
Nursing
Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. The Nurse Manager and Chief Clinical Officer lead the nursing care. There is an on-duty Nursing Supervisor round-the-clock to provide oversight and leadership to the staff. Through the Department of Nursing, care plans are created in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines.
Respiratory Therapists
Under the direction of the medical staff, our round-the-clock team of respiratory therapists evaluates, treats and manages patients with cardiopulmonary problems.
Care Management / Social Services
The care management team coordinates the overall plan of care, biweekly Interdisciplinary Care Conferences, etc. A wide range of services including counseling, discharge planning, referrals to community agencies and securing medical equipment for home use is provided.
Food Services and Nutrition Support
The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments, monitors your nutrition plan and participates in the Wound Care Team. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists are an integral part of your rehabilitation process. Under the direction of your physician, they evaluate, treat and provide rehabilitation for muscular, skeletal, neurological and circulatory diseases.
Occupational Therapy
The work of the occupational therapist helps promote independence in daily living skills such as feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming. The goal we strive toward is to increase your strength, endurance and coordination.
Speech Therapy
When required, a licensed speech and language pathologist provides therapy to improve your speaking and swallowing skills as much as possible.
Radiology
Using advanced digital equipment, the radiology staff performs a variety of X-rays and diagnostic services that play an important role in diagnosing many illnesses.
Surgical Services
Surgical services are available. If necessary, for some specialty procedures, patients may be transferred to another facility.
Laboratory
Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any tests that are ordered. Our advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.
Pharmacy
An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.
Chaplain Services
There are chaplains on standby to assist you and your family with any needs or concerns. Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
